FAQ
These are questions I get asked the most...
Q.
What if I don't want Vans? Can you paint different shoes?
A.
Vans makes classic slip-ons, flats, and Hi-Tops, so I'd do any of those. I don't paint knock-offs because Vans are worth the price...they last a lot
longer than any other Van-look-alike I've ever used. If I'm going to spend time
painting something, I want to make sure the "canvas" is going to last a long
time and keep the painting looking good!
A few people have asked me about Converse too, and I'd definietly do Hi-Tops if someone wanted them! I don't think Nikes will work unless they're mostly canvas fabric.
Q.
What kind of paint do you use?
A.
I use Jacquard Textile paint, which is made specially for fabrics. It's the best quality paint out there! !
Q.
Won't walking/running/splashing ruining them?
A.
No! With the paint I use, the design will feel like part of the shoe itself. Neither water nor sun will damage the design. If you've owned Vans, you know that over time, the fabric becomes softer and more comfortable. The design will still be there as long as the shoe is (even if they get dirty, I wear mine to concerts and they're still fine), but they are shoes, so don't abuse them too badly :)
Q.
Why are the shoes priced the way they are?
A.
Painting takes a huge amount of time! I'd consider 8 hours an easy pair, so many of them stretch beyond that. My school work is also a big factor, I just don't have enough time to do a gazillion shoes. The white Vans are originaly $42 for me to buy, the paints are $5 for each 2 oz color (the quality is worth it) and this website costs money to run too! ;) Not to mention nice brushes, sealer, glitter, and Coke Zero to keep me awake long into the night....
Q.
Where did you learn to do that?
A.
Honestly, I don't have an answer for this one ;p I get it all ther time, but the truth is...I blame it on Disney movies when I was little <3
I'll add more questions as people ask them!
